Program Activities:

"Colloquia on Technology in Learning"

In this second category of workshops, faculty group themselves by disciplinary or interdisciplinary interests to hone in on technological expertise and methods that seem most applicable and appropriate. These colloquia address pedagogical issues in specific academic areas and provide an opportunity to exchange ideas for applications, while learning from the experience of colleagues. They encourage creativity, generation of questions and ideas, and experimentation.

An expected outcome of the colloquia is the production of carefully considered and specific plans for collaborative projects among Denison and Kenyon faculty and students, projects that may be eligible for the competitive funding process that is the third component of the Program. Another expected outcome will be distinct changes in the way courses are conducted, applications that utilize technology but may not result in competition for funding because they do not require a more formal collaborative project and may incur little or no cost. A third outcome, and one that is inevitable in true experimentation, will be the ideas that are judged to be unsuccessful, but add to the experience of participants.

A stipend is paid to each participant in the colloquia.

The colloquia provide a time to forge closer professional and personal alliances among the participants from both institutions, an opportunity to recognize shared common ground and differences that complement each other, possibly leading to additional collaboration within the framework of this project or otherwise.
