Collaboration in Middle Eastern, South Asian, and International Studies
Abstract:
The purpose of this project is to make use of Denison faculty and curricular resources, and video conferencing technology on both campuses, for the instruction of intermediate and upper-level courses that will be available to students at Denison University and Kenyon College during 1999-2000 (see attached course descriptions). Both courses, "The Middle East and the West: A 'Clash of Civilizations'?" (to be taught by Tavakolian in the Fall 1999) and "Gender and Family in South Asia" (to be taught by Khandelwal in Spring 2000) and ones in which relatively small enrollments may be anticipated at Denison, but which will be able to attract additional qualified students from Kenyon. Thus, the project will broaden curricular options at both institutions by making it possible to offer courses that are occasionally under-enrolled at Denison and unavailable at Kenyon.
